The Willow Tree Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

The Willow Tree

Extending branches of the willow tree
bend and flow toward the shaded ground
Unlike other thriving trees with sturdy trunks…
your divine gracefulness is earthward bound

Flowing strands of immortal goddess locks
drooping like the thin ropes of the gallows
captured by a breeze that inspires movement…
releasing rustling sounds from the shadows

Without a care about what others surmise
you continue to flourish and subtly amaze
with velvet notes expressing inaudible lyrics
swayed by a maestro with heavenly ways
