The Wiser

Without wisdom
Amid the hidden tears of those years
What he did to atone
Came to be his function.

A lot of that now gone
He replaced it with quest for wisdom.

Now he knows that he never can,
Always must, atone,
And must do that
With wisdom.

Farewell love and all thy laws forever;
Thy baited hooks shall tangle me no more.
