The Wonder Of You Poem by Noah Body

The Wonder Of You

The universe is in your eyes
You smile and all it implies

The softness of your skin
Gives butterflies within

A gentle scent to golden hair
Wafts it's way through the air

The baggage I bring is not good
That at least is understood

Tension and stress weigh you down
Bring to your face a darkened frown

To see that smile disappear
Sliding down a tiny tear

Breaks my heart and makes me cry
Then I think you should say goodbye

Go off to live and find your joy
Before the pain can you destroy

Your happiness is all I need
Even when my heart does bleed

Yet by my side is where you stay
You're the eternal light in my day

I'm scarcely worth all your pain
The tears that fall like the rain

Your love for my I don't deserve
But you never, ever swerve

I don't understand why you stay
To just hurt and cry another day

For forty years you've been my life
My love, my light, my blessed wife

How you stand me I wish I knew
That is simply the wonder of you
