The World Today

the withering heights of fading grace
a mirror not reflect all, but only the face
we have heard the wise men proudly say
skins and bones they wither away
despite knowing the answers all
we tread on a path where we bound to fall
when truth lay close , we close our eyes
our sight lighten when it meets the lies
of all the miseries when this world is done
our night will eat the glittering sun

the world today is a world of shame
the world today would forever be the same

where a fortress never built on a bedrock of trust
where no gold enough to slay the thirst
where death gives more joy than a child when born
where heart loves to keep another forlorn
where before the dreams comes reality first
where we speak of love but inside there is lust
Where we dream to conquer the sky above
with swords and guns, not faith and love

from heart and soul we would always be lame
the world today would forever be the same

with the might of the eye we look afar
abandon the things which near they are
thinks a fool when like a wise
we never see the world by his eyes
not every light can light a soul
we sink like water from a hole
here joy for me is sorrow for you
the world is cold like morning dew

where we love to write we love to blame
world today would forever be the same

A sad but very true poem. Your words reflect much of what existes in the world today. Our world is often a cold cuel place, filled with to many people who think to much of themselves, and not enough for others. There is still much beauty and peace in the world, but it becomes harder to see with the growing darkness that is spreading, eating our 'glittering sun.' I try to spend at least part of every day seeing the beauty that still exists.

A perfect picture of the world as on date. Very frankly as I see that the good things on his earth are gradually sinking day by day... very good penning. (Report) Reply

The present world is what you write very well...I've lived thru world war 2 when mans madness was at its height with 50 million plus dead...since then a war somewhere has erupted the rest of the world is a holiday camp...regards kanav (Report) Reply

this is the only place we do have to live in. If the people of the world would come together and offer a support team this world would be much better. Excellent write (Report) Reply

This excellently penned write indicates to me that you feel the world is not a good one to live in, for various reasons, dear Kanav, and this is very true on many different levels, but... within each level there is also beauty, joy, happiness to be found, if we are not closed to it through a pessimistic outlook. The world is full of love, as well as its opposite, this is for balance, Yin and Yang and I truly don't believe that on the earth plane we will ever enjoy anything else. It is where we learn our 'Life Lessons' in order to progress Spiritually! All that said, an exceptional write, excellently phrased, with good visual detail. You provide a banquet of food for thought to your reader to dine on, to reflect on in the quieter moments of their day. Thank you for sharing, Kanav. I wish you a very blessed, wonderful and wondrous, healthy, good luck filled, creative, successful and very Happy New Year. Blessings always... (Report) Reply

I hear the lament of a youngster who is disheartened to see the miserable state of affairs of the present world! There is reason for all of us to feel anxious about the present plight where corruption, lust and falsehood are shockingly seen profuse! Great write!

Happy New Year, Kanav! ! (Report) Reply

very ironical, very right..yes, this is what we all do...and we shall keep on doing if not checked by such write ups as yours, Kanav Justa...

    despite knowing the answers all
we tread on a path where we bound to fall
when truth lay close, we close our eyes
our sight lighten when it meets the lies...this last line quoted here has Bacon like idea as he said in his essay, Of Truth...A MIXTURE OF A LIE DOTH EVER ADD PLEASURE! ! ! (Report) Reply

A hardhitting poem on tday's selfish cruel world. The 3rd stanza was esp admirable, which ends with gun n swords. Lets hope 2o14 people learn to luv not hate. (Report) Reply

Truth is hidden in different ways as the world spins with corruption, lies, hate as love tries to get to the top of the heap of discord to bring harmony to a fallen world!
Great write Kanav with amazing lines! (Report) Reply
