The Yacht Poem by Dave Dunn

The Yacht

The yacht drew into harbour
Some miles along the coast
From the creek where it's
Marina is the usual host

A visit to the nearby pub
For a spot of home cooked lunch
Potter to the grocery store
For some apples we might munch

Now were set up for the trip
Two days we'll spend at sea
Bathing in the salt spray
The winds force sets us free

And if that breeze should falter
There's a motor we can start
Though sailing is the pleasure
And my friend enjoys his art

Off to port is Essex
Though the shore is far from sight
If we got the bins out
Then there's a chance we might

Catch a glimpse of Europe
And perhaps we may one day
Steer a course to Amsterdam
Is it all that people say

A place where relaxation
May be found in many forms
Some of which are decidedly
Outside the English norms

But for now it's simply sea we seek
A voyage through the blue
Splendid isolation
With no other boats in view
