THEIR DEATH IS LACED WITH HOPE
As the fall gives way to winter
Momijis' translucent leaves bid farewell to their mother
and let go her arm
To fall in a carpet of colours resplendent even in death.
Glowing happily, that their decaying bodies
will seep back to her through the soil's humus
and lie in wait till autumn comes again
to reappear in new garb on their mother's arms.
The air is redolent with their death-defying hope
