There Is Jesus Poem by Jose Claassen

There Is Jesus

In the midst of the heat
and the press of the day
In the dearth and the peril
of our mortal clay
In the storm and the torment
that threaten the soul
(when all is lost)
There is Jesus

In the furious conflict
for the throne of each heart
In the trial and the tempest
that shadow life’s path
In the dread and despair
that mark our days
(when faith’s an uphill struggle)
There is Jesus

Some have said they have found
all the answers they need
Some have money
Some have power
Some, religion
Some, a creed
But when the waves had thrown me down
and my ship was about to sink,
when I was sure that I had drowned
(where hope had fallen)
There stood Jesus...
