There Is Nothing Comparable To Your Mother And Father! Poem by Dr.V.K. Kanniappan

There Is Nothing Comparable To Your Mother And Father!

Elders said that you should think in your mind
as long as you live those
who had given you even a tiny object!

If so, is there anything reciprocal you can offer
to your mother and father who had given birth to you
and your dear life with prosperity in this wonderful world?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Hi,
This poem 'There is nothing comparable to your mother and father! ' is a translation by me of a poem from Tamil literature 'Neethinool' by Poet.Mayuram Vedhanayagam Pillai.

Who argues this statement? Who can deny it? Who disagrees with this? The world need not remind mankind about this each day and throughout one's life. Is it needed to remind ourselves that we are breathing and living every moment? This is our case with our parents too. Likewise, we need not remind the world of love, brotherhood etc., because such things are ALREADY in us. We are actually touching the core but often they don't sustain because we think too much - discriminate with our intellect and the feelings are lost. The moment we stop this intellectual circus, all the natural elements will naturally begin to show by itself - Swami Vivekananda always used to remind us such facts. Kindly note that this is my personal view as well which the world won't disagree with either.

Hi Mr.Ravi, You are right. There is no necessity to remind every body; But in this modern world, the young people go away for job and livelihood all over the country and sometimes abroad. Poet Vedhanayakam Pillai, who lived 100 years back and was a District Munsif and Poet, tried to remind certain moral values to the generations to come. V.K.Kanniappan
