There Lies As World Between Then And Now Poem by Gert Strydom

There Lies As World Between Then And Now

(for Annelize, in answer to Lucia Welz)

There lies as world between then and now
where I now look at your photographs,
where pictures show a grown-up child
and you leave those days and times behind,
where moments hold incalculable things,
when you come to my soul, heart and spirit
do leave me speechless with your humanity
as you and I were children but you are fully a mature woman,
where I am looking at you.
