There Was A Poem I Waited To Be Inspired By

THERE WAS A POEM I WAITED TO BE INSPIRED BY

There was a poem I waited to be inspired by -
I heard it once and then again and again
And each time it reminded me
That elsewhere there were others who knew how to believe in life-

And so I told myself
I would try to write down one day
A poem of my own
Which would give others hope also.

Now writing this I think of myself as a kind of fiction-
But what great poems of hope and faith there have been
And what great voices mankind has known-

It almost makes one believe
That such a voice can come again
Even if it is not necessarily my own-
