They Poem by Danny Draper

They

They threw sticks and stones
I built a house,
They threw insults
I marketed condiments,
They threw a tantrum
I sipped it on ice,
They threw the baby out with the bath water
I built a slip and slide,
They misled the people
I built a parliament,
They told bare faced lies
I laughed hard in their eyes,
They threw a great party
I was told,
They were biting yesterday
I should have been here,
They were the best
I missed that too,
They were to blame
I had my suspicions,
They always say that
I know it must be true,
They say so many things
I can hardly blame them,
They threw in their two cents worth
I know that gives it currency,
They can't be serious
I doubt that proposition,
They have swept away all opposition
I have watched from the ruins,
They have destroyed and created
I live within the paradox,
They thought I'd fail
I have been known to forget,
They threw in their lot
I became a squatter,
They threw brick bats
I built a shop,
They threw bouquets
I opened a florist,
They were not that surprised,
I am a horticulturist.
