They Let Me Down Poem by Fiona Sunny

They Let Me Down

Trampling on the crowded streets was me
Steady in life and as jolly as could be
Praised by the stones and passers-by
Clothed with flattery and the fake lullaby
Like a melting bright candle falling down
With my dreams’ deceit they let me down.

Flying in the sky without a cloud in my way
I flew past the pits where I now sway
Sent by the sand to return forever
After my fate – my luck could change never
Like a blazing fire flickering out with a frown
With my fate’s deceit, they let me down.

Walking with waters that never speak
I skipped the games and now I’m weak
Staggering on forgotten miseries’ stage
I couldn’t bear the cloud’s strong rage
Like a teak in it’s greens breaking down
With my wonder’s deceit, they let me down.

Whizzing past failures and troubles I came
And visited the success that brought me fame
Climbing the highest mountains to the peaks
I laid my fingers on failure’s beaks
Like the weak sand masses flowing down
With my rest’s deceit, they let me down.

Breathing every breath I sought
I was captured by what I myself caught
When minds were corrupt and detained the post
Tongues came to interrupt and seek me when lost
Like a violent storm calming down
With my strength’s limit, they let me down.

Trampled by my own trusted feet
Squeezed by my own hungry teeth
Whacked by my own old eyes
Pushed down by my own hopeless lies
Like a star from heaven falling down
With my life’s deceit, they let me down.
