Things Inside You Poem by Kerri White

Things Inside You

Have you tried to distinguish between
the things you know
and those that contain themselves
someplace inside of you-
(youre not exactly sure where)
somewhere between your mind
and your eyes?

Too many movements within a day's time
come from within a zombied realm of your existence-
the part of your days that mimmicks every moment
and turns them into a meaningless, solitary ruin.

Those same movements
consume you, unknowingly, involuntarily...
but had you known, would you have challenged
the calmness of the 'now' that has been given to you
with the undescribable imagination of life you'd love to maneuver?

Before, you could go all day without thinking,
and you'd be fine in the boring evacuation of your soul,
but now, what can quench the thirsts and hungers you've acquired?
After you fill yourself with the obvious answers, will you lie there at night
with the scent of your desires overcoming the space in which you lose sleep?
Will you hear a sound far away of exactly what you need to hear,
or will you even be able to recognize it?

Or will the silence prevail as your body takes control...
will your memories erase as you wake up to the sun
and let your schedule ruin you in another day's course?
