This We Learn From Day One Till Death. Poem by RIC BASTASA

This We Learn From Day One Till Death.

it will take longer
to sever a tie, to distance,
to cut, someone from someone,
mother to child,
a puppet to a string, is utmost
detachment,
of a loss, and death,

a daughter for instance,
for what cause
is more identified to her
rag doll

how she cries when it was
left in school
how could she not sleep anyhow?

the bed is not an attachment
neither is the room,
expel, exfoliate, hair and teeth
and arms,

this we learn
from day one till death.
