Thoughts Of You Poem by Melissa Buhagiar

Thoughts Of You

In the quiet moments,
Sometimes laying down,
Sometimes on my chair
Lost in the pages of a well loved book
I think of you,
And as I contemplate the silence
I can hear my heartbeat breaking through
Sounding impossibly loud to me.

My love so many miles from me
In a distant land
On a foreign shore,
And closing my eyes
I try to imagine what you are doing.

Are you beneath your favourite tree
Thinking of me?
Or thrown into some wild adevnture?

I often dream up adventures
That you and I shall go on,
Sights we will see,
And escapades we will experience
Hand in hand.

Does your mind ever wander to the same things?
Do you ever wish that you could part the miles
And that we could be together
The way we wish
Hope
And long to be.

I dream of eternity
That bears your face
And holds your name,
And as I stand neath' the starlight of your eyes
Eternity hath never looked more lovelier to me...
And as I reach over and take your hands in mine,
I feel lighter than air
And happier than a child on Christmas day
Opening her presents,
A smile on my face
That I shall wear for always.
