Three Cheers For Salvation Poem by Andy Brookes

Three Cheers For Salvation

Question used to be who, where and when but transference and time change, metamorphosing into what and why.
rushing through life the real passes us by, we do not see the beauty in a drop of rain, big always gets top billing but it is the little that's important.

days myriad in rainbow light, opportunities lost in just living, scraping by; sighing now at memories and wishing I had paid more attention, been more awake to the possibilities of the small.
revolutions have been many before coming to the light, a dawn that gives no answers.

much dust has fallen, leaving a film, hiding the true meanings written in starlight; too timid to wipe it away in case I disturb truths I may not like.

the spider web outside my window wafts gently in the breeze its delicacy belies it strength.
leaves once supple on thebough scuttle dry across the pavement whispering of death in subtle husky voices.
branches of bare trees wave saying hello to the wood nymphs of imagination Spring burgeoning in every bud.

wishing is no good, all the best days have past unnoticed,
friends say its never too late which does comfort but....
questions remain, what and why, those impenetrable enigmas
which loom heavy until it does not matter, till death yells in your ear times up.

God's gigantic cosmic jigsaw's a joke, which echos in the laughter of the big bang, leaving only the screaming voice, why?

if's, such a huge cliff hanger of a word, IF, as we are promised by those architects of wisdom, we will know in the end, should it not give contentment, trust is faith they say.
but sadly all prerequisites to be savedhave been squandered
by the cruelty of Christianity and its priests, until there is nothing left just the galloping shrieking why.

salvation is, I think, in Spring with the new green buds of hope pushing through into the light and then the why matters not so much.
