Three Years - Poem by Scarlet Edwards

Three years have gone by
Since I graduated from high school
Although it has been three years
I feel like I have gone nowhere
Accomplished nothing
Only stood idly by
And watched the world continue
To spin round

I see my friends
Moving steadily forward in their lives
Accomplishing goals
Or making steps toward their goals
I want to join in
And accomplish my own dreams
But I don't know how
Perhaps I'm too afraid of failure

So I just watch in silence instead
And hope that someday
I do join in

Poet's Notes about The Poem

I wrote this three years after my high school graduation during a time when I was feeling lost about what I wanted to do with my life.
