Through It All Poem by Poetic Jae

Through It All

Can you tell I cried myself to sleep
That's no gleam you see
Streams ready to spill their banks behind my eyelids
While I try to smile through it all
Can you see through my smile
To the quiver of my bottom lip
The telltale sign I'm barely holding on
Ready to break down
While trying to smile through it all
Did you hear the crack behind my laugh
Jokes for days to keep the tears at bay
While I continue to smile through it all
You don't see me hunched over in pain
But I'm hurting
Internal wounds that can't seem to heal
Yet I'm still smiling through it all
Can I smile through it all
This happiness an act
Praying one day it becomes fact
Keeping it all to myself
Because I'm the strong one
No weakness allowed
So I fight alone
While smiling through it all
