Throw It Away Poem by Paula Glynn

Throw It Away

Rip it up, throw it away, start again,
Don't bluff, don't lie, let your anxieties fry.
Be brave, be strong, be fearless,
Talk straight, be straight,
Even if you're gay.

Face life, don't run away, tell the truth,
Face the consequences, be prepared,
And if you are the fall guy,
Don't let them see you cry,
And walk with your head held high.

Be a dreamer, a player, a comedian,
Take life seriously, also treat it as a joke,
And laugh when others smoke.
Because you have not fallen for that game,
Yet you deserve and crave fame.

Be angry, be fierce, don't let yourself bleed,
Cry in the night, but face the day,
And watch those theatre plays,
Where characters are so obvious,
But never allowing themselves to be labelled dumb.

Be your own best friend, don't let others hurt you,
Prevent letting them know what you're doing;
Even when you don't - but do ask if you have to.
And feel nothing to be forbidden and feel no shame,
For you have worked hard to create your fame.

Throw it away, laugh at your fears,
Make your ambitions and goals clear,
Even when you feel the devil is near.
Don't necessarily believe in God,
But do believe in yourself 100%.
