Tick Tock Poem by Nicholas Titus

Tick Tock

As the earth runs away from this plane
Its distant lights jogging off in the distance
The sun will attempt to cut us off as it always does
Sneaking up from behind the mountains
Breathing life into this transparent yet translucent world
Listen although this earth may be quiet it has much to say
We all, even this air we breathe to age slowly over time and change
Time my one and only true enemy
The sun his messenger delivering the news of another day
I shall join my true enemy and embrace his presence
Enjoying each one of his ticks and tocks
Kneeling before time in gratitude
The messenger sets to darken this land and grant me sleep
Just Tick and Tock as I rest
Then tell your messenger to bring me his best
Life’s aging clock
Granting me air with each tick and each tock
