Timeless Poem by Sandeep Mandal

Timeless

Years have gone by
Initially no time to time
Then unfurled day descended night
Still stilled without chime
Days in year, then in quarter, month and week
Now in a blink of an eye.
I know not what time is
A standard measure or just as we seek.
But what we seek, is it time past or time future?
Isn't it rather a time without time?
Sometimes down the stairs, sometimes up
But is it to reach any floor
Only to be confined by the windows and door?
Why such constant desire to be timeless
We but a time bound being
Birth, growth and death
A cycle repeated over and over
But in a span not endless breath.
Where does it lie, In which distant stars or galaxy,
Or a parallel universe may be?
Timelessness.
Only distant and abstract
No manifestation at all close.
True you suppose?
Years have gone by
Sitting still together at the edge of time
You in tears and a desolate I.
