Times Of Change Poem by Mary Rodriguez

Times Of Change

It's easy to feel scared when things change
It produces a sense of loss; a sense of derange
Stressed and overwhelmed; my mind spins out of control
Dark thoughts smother the light that once lit up my soul
As darkness settles in for another sleepless night
I feel I've lost my way; I've lost my light
Things just aren't as they used to be
All I can think is; why's this happening to me?
Hope that shone so bright slowly fading away
Tomorrow holds no promises of better days
The more I try to grab on; the faster I lose my hold
The warmth I once felt; now feels so cold
When I'm alone; no one hears my cry
It seems to not matter how hard I try
My dreams run like sand through my hand
I have to believe there's a greater plan
Amidst the tears; I try to resolve my fears
Trusting you'll return; that you're still near
Letting go of the worried ghost inside will set me free
Releasing the darkness that had its hold on me
Like a Phoenix from the ashes; I'll rise
My shattered dreams; I can revise
I think I finally understand
Things don't always go as we planned
My life may change; but it won't change me
I am what I am; that's the way it'll be
Nothing is guaranteed; all we have is today
Try to find the beauty of one more day
