Just as I thought this Christmas turned
To be bereft of bliss;
The 'Flu that struck has all moods changed,
And things have gone amiss.
The weather changed to bitter cold,
And caught us by surprise;
With plans for Christmas put on hold,
We're proved to be unwise.
Nevertheless, Jesus is born
In humble way today;
‘Do make us all alright this morn,
O Physician, we pray! '
The 'Flu has made my voice-box flat,
I cannot sing a hymn;
And I am sitting where I sat,
My heart, sad to its brim.
I try my best to sing some songs
Sung in the Christmas choir;
My heart with joy leaps with church gongs,
"Babe King, make us better! "
I know I will be better soon,
My faith is strong as ev'r;
Christ's birth to mankind is a boon,
Christmas is forever!
"Merry Christmas to all! "
