To Forget Poem by Tony Berbechinie

To Forget

Long have I sought
Long have I been denied
Standing in the shadow of shame
I have no where to go
It seems my only comfort is one of ache
At the steps, I fear freedom
I fear looseness of pain
The choice is mine
But thoughts of late
Since I can remember
Has painted a dark fate

Though freedom seems so fresh and free
Agony with his familiar sting
Strikes the deep within
One is now two

The choices I’ve made
The lies I’ve lived
All for what?
More pain?
The memories of her
Seem to cut far more deep

to forget is to die
is there life after death?
