To Hope For The Better Poem by Francis Duggan

To Hope For The Better

'Tis hard for you to smile when you are feeling down
And seen as one of the none achievers of the town
Your partner has left and taken with her the children and to you won't be back
And the tunnel of your life is looking quite black
'Tis hard for you to smile when your spirits are low
And your problems around you only seem to grow
You struggle to pay child allowance and rent
And by saturday all of your money you've spent
You feel trapped in your huge black pit of despair
Only for the privileged life does seem fair
'Tis hard for you to smile when your mind's full of care
And your crosses in life seem so heavy to bear
But who knows what the immediate future to you will bring
To hope for the better one only can cling.
