To My Grandparents Poem by Dianna Hoskins

To My Grandparents

I would be lost without you
you glanced at me and knew
that we could be a family
that we could live happily
you took me in
taught me how to grin
you're the reason
that my demons
arnt so hard to deal with anymore
you're the reason I am cared for
and for that I thank you greatly
even though I haven't said it lately
I want you to know you reside
in my heart, as my guides
through this life, you taught me this
as long as we're family, everything is bliss

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is dedicated to my grandparents. At the age of seven, my mother was on drugs and would not send me to school. They notified my grandparents who took me out of the bad situation instead of handing me off to be in the system. Not many people in their late 50s (back then) would do such a thing. And for that, im extremely greatful
