To Those Who Have Lost Someone Poem by Katie Reed

To Those Who Have Lost Someone

Rating: 5.0

To those of us who have lost a loved one

I lost you today and my heart stopped
Hearing the words but no registering of them
Then like a bubble my ears popped
The world stood still a second and then

My body it's screaming with pain so bad,
From the pit of my stomach to my pounding head
Never feeling this loss that's so sad,
The mind not believing your gone, your dead.

You can't be gone as I only just spoke to you,
A few hours ago you were there I know
Talking and laughing and ending with love you
Trying to call you but this time no hello.

All of us have loved and lost
Whether it's family or a friend
Having the chill that start of the frost
Most of us know this isn't the end

But how much we wish
We could have them back now
All of us wanting the selfish
Thinking why them and how

How like that they leave us
Suddenly gone we become numb
So much I really want to discuss
For now I will have to learn to succumb

As in his memory you are kept
It won't be long before you return
Forgetting why we first wept
That day we see you, we all will yearn.

In my heart and in my mind
You'll always be alive and well
That's all it takes for me to find
All of the memories, right down to your smell.

Goodbye for now,
I'll try and stay strong
But I miss you and hurt.
Because here is where you belong.
