To Whom It May Concern Poem by Diana van den Berg

To Whom It May Concern

I pity
you, frozen empty one –
no, on second thoughts,
I offer you my tears
for your barren core.

If only you were able
to learn
that compassion hurts
but it washes the soul
with its tears
and heals the heart
with its insight
and loosens the shoulders
with its softness
and deepens the smiles
with its wisdom.

Rather profound. Great job.
