To You There Was Something Happy And Serene

(after William Wordsworth)

Your smile was bright, your teeth snow-white
when first you came into my sight,
your eyes gleamed with understanding care,
the sun sparkled in your dark-brown hair,

the impressions on your face,
with character brought you grace
sweet was the fragrance of your breath,
your impression lasts to the day of my death,

to you there was something happy and serene,
something more angelic than a biological machine,
without any care you seemed free,
in great beauty had your own liberty,

you did give to me your heart and your hand
and somehow me you did understand,
you were my greatest blessing in the time we spent,
while you were both beautiful and eloquent

and now mature and modest you are also innocent,
your imperfections are perfect and magnificent
as a women full of empathy
you do constantly others see,

still you do my mind and gaze fill,
with sharp reason and a caring will,
while with foresight and intuition
you know my goals, wishes and each ambition,
while you do my thoughts and heart way-lay,
do bring joy to each night and day.

I am quoting his beautiful and great poem here:

"She was a phantom of delight" by William Wordsworth

"She was a phantom of delight
When first she gleamed upon my sight:
A lovely apparition, sent
To be a moment's ornament:
Her eyes as stars of Twilight fair;
Like Twilight's, too, her dusky hair;
But all things else about her drawn
From May-time and the cheerful Dawn:
A dancing shape, an Image gay,
to haunt, to startle and way-lay."

"I saw her upon nearer view,
A Spirit yet a woman too!
Her household motions light and free,
And steps of virgin-liberty;
A countenance in which did meet
Sweet records, promises as sweet;
A creature not to bright or good
For human nature's daily food;
For transient sorrows, simple wiles,
Praise, blame, love, kisses, tears and smiles."

"And now I see with eye serene:
The very pulse of the machine;
A being breathing thoughtful breath,
A traveller between life and death;
The reason firm, the temperate will,
Endurance, foresight, strength and skill;
A perfect Woman, nobly planned,
To warn, to comfort and command;
And yet a Spirit still, and bright
With something of angelic light."]
