Today's Tragedy In My Country.... Poem by Sylvia Frances Chan

Today's Tragedy In My Country....

Rating: 5.0

Just heard through the media
that four children are drowned
in a municipal boat in a puddle here in my country

it started with:
one had fallen into the water,
the second and the rest went to help,
but unfortunately,
very sad, all the children
were drowned to death….

this sad and tragic incident,
reminds me of my own God's Moment

my two sons, in the same warm June violent stormy weather,
two neighbourhood children, my eldest son and his brother
were in a meager municipal boat at the time,
sudden lightnings and wild winds surrounding them primely
took them to unknown directions,
on that great unknown Haarlemmer lake interventions

only my eldest son remained calm and commanded
every child what to do,
he was busy all the time
in the unknown territory
to explore their discovery,
I was at home and at my very ease
since I thought
they are playing with the neighbours-kids,

today four children are dead in a similar incident,
admittedly other more different case experiment,
but I recognized that same municipal meager sloop,
and the same wild stormy weather moment

dear God I am still grateful to you
you protected my kids and their friends
in those greatest danger moments

this sad and most tragic accident,
reminds me of my own God's Moment….
