Tomorrow's Door Poem by Herbert Dry

Tomorrow's Door

Who may know what tomorrow holds
Not I, I must wait for tomorrow to
unfold
It may bring a stranger to my door
or someone I knew
before

If it a stranger hungry and
cold
I will give clothing for warmth and put food
in a container for him
to hold

If it is someone I knew long
ago I will ask him in to sit by the
fire's warm glow

If it is a stranger at my door
and I ask not
his name
Then I will lower my
head in shame

If it is a love from the
past
I will ask where did you go where have you
been have you returned
to me at
last

If tomorrow brings no one to my
door
I will go about my day as all the
days before
