Too Many Missed Trains Poem by bob barci

Too Many Missed Trains

There are
too many missed trains in my life.
Why do cab companies
refuse to get me there on time?
I call them with at least an hour to spare.
They say they’ll get me in 10 to 15 minutes,
but keep me waiting, and waiting, and waiting.
I yell at the drivers
who blame the dispatchers.
Cabs always arrive
leaving me only a minute or two to get to the station.
And sometimes I do get to the station,
just in time to see my train - leave.
So, I resort to
cussing up a blue streak,
slamming my bag to the ground,
and kicking the shins of some old lady.
Damn! Another missed train to deal with!
So, now I have to wait.
Wait an hour for the next train
Any plans I made
have to be delayed or canceled.
Too many missed trains
put me in a bad mood
and ruin my day.
