Too Tired To Sleep Poem by Steven Pettry

Too Tired To Sleep

It's been twenty four nights
since I could fall asleep,
without bringing up, some archaic memory.
While you sleep so sound,
window up to feel the breeze.
But when the wind weeps, you'll know its just me

Tucked up and thrown away
Words I wanted to say.
When you, you decided to leave.
I laid my heart in your grip,
But you, you let it slip.
And now I can't even begin to sleep.

Now you're out with friends;
poolside in the sunlight.
While I'm locked in my room,
t.v. light and tired eyes.
But you'll never know
just what you did to me;
that i still can't sleep
when i dream in memories.
