Tough Years Poem by Rusty Ed Gibson

Tough Years

We could have been together a few more years
We could have done it with a lot less tears
We could have learned to love and not to fight
We could have stayed together and done it right

Now its gonna be five more years
I Think I'll just slam one more beer

Just cause you say it - don't make it so
I have forgotten more than you will ever know
I don't believe part of Gods Holy plan
Was you runnin off with some other man

Now its gonna be four long years
I Think I'll just slam one more beer

Take all the money, land and cars
Go catin around at all of the bars
Just leave me and my kids alone
Get in your car and on down the road

Its gonna be three hard years
Think I will slam one more beer

Call your lawyer and your friends
They don't know where you've been
You can tell them your crap don't stink
Cause it don't matter what they think

Its gonna be two tough years,
Think I will slam one more Beer

You may think its all about you
But I really dont care what you do
I'd like to wake up and you be gone
So I could write a happy song

Its gonna be one more long hard tough years,
Think I will slam one more Beer
