Toxic Goners Poem by Rose Walker

Toxic Goners

I am so tired
Of people ignoring me
Talking over me
Pretending I don't exist
I'm just there

They love me
But I don't think they know what they're loving
Is it me?
Or the thought of me?
Am I some sort of fill in
To make it seem like they have more friends?
Please, tell me I'm not
Tell me I'm not just another member of the family

Tell me you love me
Tell me you need me
Say you notice me
Say you cherish me
At least lie to make me feel better

Why?
Why is there this giant gap
In between the living and the dead?
Even if they stand right in front of us every day
They still wish to believe we are dead
To them, they are alive!
They run around with their toxic friends
Pretending they are anything but goners
But in reality,
We are all dead
