Trains & Blood Stains Poem by Melanie Grant

Trains & Blood Stains

I put all anger and envy
in a little sack
and swung it over my shoulder
and onto my back

Like the trash
i threw it out of my train of thoughts
that was chugging along
with no end to be sought

My smile that is persistent is so artificial
the real truth is hidden behind.
trying to erase the thought of you and her together
from the chalkboard in my mind.

You disrobe me of happiness
left naked in the dark of the night.
The end of this tunnel of sorrow
is not to be found in my range of sight.

I thought our love would be enough
to persuade you but i was wrong
your heart sings a tune for her
and you sing along.

The day the promise is fulfilled
is the day my heart will be mended
when misery, loneliness and tears
will all be ended.
