Transient Equanimity Poem by Marlon Janaway

Transient Equanimity

Oh peace, descend upon me,
assuage my care fraught senses,
you've been absent for so long,
I thought you never to return.

I have traversed the frozen wastelands.
And endeavored through the tempests.
Seeking out your guidance,
amid the landscape of my mind.

Though incompatible together,
like a lover scorned, you fled me.
Though I love you, separation
in the future I foresee.

Now here! I absorb your presence,
mark my heart, and stain my memory,
that bitter sweet nostalgia,
may lift me on its wave.

I beg you dearest friend,
for the length of our next parting,
make it shorter in the passing,
lest my beating heart subside.
