True Love Poem by Samantha White

True Love

Teardrops fall like rain from the sky,
from the blue eyes of this forgotten girl.
Her day had started full of light and happiness,
but now is filled with hate and loneliness.
Going to school with a smile on her face,
only to find that everyone turns their backs.
Why they suddenly hate her she doesn’t know,
but it is tearing her up inside.
Walking home with tears in her eyes,
thinking her day couldn’t get any worse.
Until the phone call that changed her life came,
telling her that her mother was dead.
She called the only person that she had left,
hoping he could make her smile again.
But what he said was the unexpected;
She just couldn’t take any more pain.
He had said that he would never hurt her;
He had said that he loved her way too much.
He had lied when he said he would always care about her,
All he had ever told her was lies.
He said he had seen her with another guy,
Called her a liar for saying she would never cheat.
She tried to explain what had really happened,
on that night which had changed her life forever.
“Please listen to me, ” she cried and cried,
“That guy was no one; I love you!
He forced me to do something I didn’t want to,
and now I have a baby on the way.”
He just wouldn’t listen to her,
He just walked away.
He didn’t know what he had just done,
but he would soon find out.
She stared at her reflection in the mirror,
watching the black tears run down her cheeks.
She saw only a girl, who could never be good enough,
what reason did she have to live?
She lay on her bed staring at the ceiling,
wanting to die more than anything.
She reached in her nightstand and took out a knife,
the one that had eased her pain so many times.
As the cool blade pierced her flesh,
She felt relaxed for the first time that day.
She watched as the blood slowly dripped down her arm,
but this wasn’t how she would die.
She took the bottle of pills from her cabinet,
put them in her mouth one by one.
Just as she finished the last one,
someone came into her room.
It was a girl she didn’t know very well,
the only one who hadn’t said she hated her.
She rushed to the bed and took a piece of paper,
and with tears in her eyes read the suicide note.
“To everyone that I knew who hated me,
I just couldn’t take it anymore.
Why you all hate me I do not know,
but I suddenly had no one left.
I thought he loved me but I was wrong,
all he ever told me was lies.
I though he really cared about me,
and was different from everyone else.
But I guess he’s just the same as all the rest,
No one could ever really love me.
And so now I finally say good-bye to the world,
Good-bye to all the hate and loneliness.
Now no one will have to deal with me,
I will be gone forever.”
She could not believe what she had just read;
She stared at the other girl with a look of horror.
She had never thought anyone could hurt this bad,
to hurt themselves so much.
She immediately called the one who had broke the girls heart,
Told him exactly what she had done.
He came to her side as fast as he could,
And called an ambulance hoping to save her life.
She lay there getting weaker by the minute,
still alive but barely breathing.
He told her he was sorry and really loved her;
it broke his heart to see her like that.
He looked at her laying there looking so weak,
Her cheeks stained with smeared black tears.
Her eyes full of such pain and hurt,
but also somehow love.
He blamed himself for what she had done,
and everyone else who had said horrible things.
Hoping she would come out of the hospital alive,
though he knew that the chances were low.
He stayed by her side night and day,
hoping that she would pull through.
Though the pills had been taken out of her,
She was weak and almost dead.
He had said that he never cried,
but he cried his first tears in a very long time.
He couldn’t imagine losing her;
He had never cared so much before.
The very moment that she opened her eyes he knew,
that this really was true love.
He felt more relieved than he ever had,
to see her awake again.
She was hesitant to trust him again,
She was afraid to get hurt again.
But he promised that he would never leave her side,
He loved her more than anything.
Teardrops no longer fall like rain,
from the sparkling blue eyes of this smiling girl.
Her days now start and end with happiness,
and she wishes to never die.
