Truth Poem by Kelly Batson

Truth

I'm a prisoner vanished in self-darkness

Everything inside of me has shifted

Living a nightmare to discover appreciation

Composing each moment of my life

Learning the world is what you make it to be

At long last I reach my destination

Behind me; only an indication of memories

I've let go of so much for this victory

The only way to look now; up to the stars

They lure me in, so vibrant

Not long ago, I burned my pain to ash

I stare into her faint blue eyes

And what reality has handed me

This world is full of false intentions

I don't believe in beautiful mistakes

Yesterday is over; today begins my future

Although, I've been the misfit all my life

There is only one way to truly feel again

Are we scared to speak the truth;

Or grown fearful of our own reflection?
