in my dreams i see
visions of what could be
things that haunt my waking eye
events that pass me by
swirling clouds round about
filled with consuming doubt
pervading all my mind
answers difficult to find
grasping for truth in lies
as all about me dies
in all things i see
something inperceptible stalking me
i feel it as it draws near
sensations like unto fear
my mind says prepare to fight
as the battle of wills hits it height
i strike out at my foe
to deliver a lethal blow
but there is nothing there
i am fighting only air
my adversary is gone
so my journey carries on
but even in the blackest night
there is victory in the light
