Turtle-Shelled Me Poem by EnVY Aaa

Turtle-Shelled Me

I have covered myself with an outside shell,
Bcuz da turtle that stays inside n promise to never come out
or let anyone in will never get hurt
Bringing you inside will only be a certification;
Its like givin u a key to dismantle my life.
Its like givin u da opportunity to hurt me anytime
It may seem wrong but I have to keep myself in this shell
I have to do that, it is necessary;
Many have tried to break this protection
Asked if they can know a lil about me
But I refuse to let them in becuz they can hurt me,
My enemies will dare not hurt me bcuz they no nothing bout me
The one I call my friend, my companion, my confidant will destroy n demolish me…
They know what hurts me the most, what makes me cry, what makes me sad
This is why I refuse to let anyone in my shell.
I like being inside dis shell, nothing goes wrong, seems like everything is perfect.
So when you see me inside my shell
Know that im just trying to protect myself.
When you ask if you may come in
Don’t be surprise when I give a noncommittal response
It is only right that my cover stays hard,
Letting you in will break my shell n cause me to be vulnerable.
