Twin Emotions Poem by Khairul Ahsan

Twin Emotions

Rating: 5.0

Hope and despair,
Smile and tear
Appear in our lives
Like a twin pair.

If one is ahead,
The other is at the rear.
Often they reappear
One after the other.

The fact is, we often
Do not remember,
These emotions lie not afar
From either, of one another.

Well said, the opposites are not apart but part of the same continuum. Day and night both together make a complete day.

Loved your poem - an important message of wisdom in a few lines! I will slowly read your other poems. I would love to have your feedback about my Bengali poems. Staying abroad, I am writing more in English, but Bengali is always close to my heart. Especially I would appreciate if you have a chance to look at my translations from Tagore. Thank you.

Very well said, a poem well-crafted- becoming a rarity these days. And yes, a twain that reinforces each other.

'These emotions lie not afar From either, of one another.' I think I'd say: 'These emotions lie not far, one from the other.'

@Malabika Ray Choudhury, 'I will slowly read your other poems' - hope you have ead at least a few, in the mean time. 'Staying abroad, I am writing more in English, but Bengali is always close to my heart' - that's natural, the vernacular comes first! Thanks for your reading and comment.
