Two Simple Things Poem by Dean Meredith

Two Simple Things

She surprised me, with a smile, and one word. Instead of yes, she said 'ta'. And that was it, with one simple word, her divine world invaded mine. Was it only a border skirmish? Perhaps, most probably. Such a simple thing, two simple things, and two small worlds touched and collided. No fire, no explosion, no fragments hurtling into space, no obvious change, but perhaps a wobble, certainly warmth, and what of orbits, and what of suns and moons? Something changed, something moved, and at least one of us might never be the same. 'Ta', amazing how a word and a glimmer, could combine like a spell. How two childhoods can suddenly meet and remember happiness, how thankful, and so innocent in polite honest kindness. Oh what a moment, nothing to the masses, yet everything to me, the beauty of simplicity, the wonder of humanity, at its very best. Gentle soul I love thee true and well, hope for and expect nothing, when everything I need is at hand. And will I ever see or hear her delightful being again? Only in my mind, if I'm very lucky, and remember, where and when. No why, no how, no answers, no questions. Just being, her wonderful being, I wish her more than well.

Ta - A slang word for Thanks. Forget her and look for one who may reply, I love you, too. A poem that has a lot to like and enjoy.
