Ukraine- Russia War- The World Is Weeping As Millions Are Homeless. Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Ukraine- Russia War- The World Is Weeping As Millions Are Homeless.

They are running and running
trying to get away from the war;
many have abandoned their homes
many have reached another country
they want to be safe from the catastrophe;
how will they succeed, how will they adjust
when on the streets they are walking hungry
and in another town or city they sleep
without proper food, bed or shelter
as so many people in millions have fled;

where will they find shelter and care
where will be their next home and nest?
was this war worth its clamor and significance
when all it did was invasion after invasion
as from one city to another it directed its focus;
no one cared to think of people's plight or future
-what circumstances they would have to dare,
-what consequences they would have to bear;

war is the easiest task for leaders and soldiers
but the brunt of war is had to withstand
for families, for children and for all people
who respect and value the comfort of their own home;
but when they have to abandon their land
and run to another place to find recluse,
no peace accompanies them but only anxiety
as back home bombs keep falling destroying
and devastating their houses and apartments,
their cities and towns, that no one even knows
who has lost an arm or a leg, who has got wounded or not,
who has died in bomb explosions or who has been injured,
that men himself forgets to pray
and humanity forgets to weep for others;

as with dread they are compelled to run and flee
leaving everything behind even old parents
who with tears in their eyes still keep praying
for their children's safety though they themselves
in harm's way sit and watch bombs falling
while in the vicinity charred bodies keep staring
at the skies as the cold wind keeps caressing them
and making even Gods feel saddest
as a death by war is the hardest punishment
for a human being as he or she is faultless
but the price of a blatant war none can ever escape
that even the world s crying to see the fate of Ukraine
where millions of people are fleeing with no food to eat,
with little children in their arms and no fixed direction to follow.
