Unbalance Affair Poem by CHIOMA ONYEKABA

Unbalance Affair

Men Say love is red
Women say love is pink
Feelings are fleeting
Everyday it changes

Feelings are hysterically funny
One can love and still lust many
Love can never be same
Except you say no to games

Feelings are for ladies
Adventures are for guys
So they claim
Till Love fades

Oh lies? They always last forever!
Dwelling in hidden corners
Breeding secrets
That hatch on every street

Women are emotional
Men are rational
Women should celebrate
Men must win all debates

Women, the sacrificial lambs
Readily staying calm
Always paying the price
For a man's chosen life of crime

Daily they profess love
Such love that becomes a woman's cross
Many daily live with dead feelings stuffed down their throat
Scared of life after the truth

You planned to go
The time is now, just go!
A minute later
You are mine, stay forever!

What price does she deserve
She who pleasures in the pain of his heart
Nothing but sorrow and death
A torture she dares to never forget

What price does he deserve
He who pleasures in the pain of her heart
Nothing but love they say
A love he can't return same

Always is it forgotten
That another's begotten
Though fragile and soft
Runs same blood not frost
