Undesirable Desires(Are They Not Like Primates?) Poem by Rajesh Thankappan

Undesirable Desires(Are They Not Like Primates?)

I foolishly left my door slightly ajar
And saw a multitude of them troop in from distance near and far,
They were desires and desires of various size and shapes
Hollering wildly at me as would a monkey or an ape.
I tried to control them but they heeded not the least
And instead, fought amongst themselves like savage beasts,
It was quite horrendous to see them thus
So, I rushed out of my house to catch a bus!

But those relentless primates gave me a chase
And came after me in great hustle and haste.
I prodded the bus driver to go full throttle
For I was been chased by beasts, so brutal.

On leaving them behind I am left with one lone desire
That they find me not, as long as I live and respire,
But God alone knows whether I have made good my escape
From those hollering monkeys and pugnacious apes!
