Unexpected Hospitality Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Unexpected Hospitality

However this misunderstanding,
Began to start.
And who misinterpreted,
My acceptance of your invitation.
But let me make this completely understood.
When you said,
"My house is yours.
Feel comfortable to do whatever you please."
And...
That's exactly what I have done.

I have changed the rules to fit my policies.
Removed the decor...
For something more to my liking and taste.
And hired a locksmith to replace your locks,
With doors that open and close electronically.
At the sound of my voice.
Your complaints about not having a key,
Is an issue you discuss with my lawyers.

Now I know...
You don't want me to believe,
I have taken advantage of your hospitality.
After I obeyed your 'offered' wants and wishes.
Which I will say,
Had been totally unexpected.
And left me caught surprised by your generosity.
