Unfinished Poem by courtney metcalf

Unfinished

Rating: 5.0

Really good people
With really great minds
I hear the way your heart breaks in a sentence
But you have too much pride
I wish I knew how to undo all of your resistance
Don't care if I'd have to fight the whole world
For you, I'd throw myself against it
I know, that you know, you're worth more than any kind of drug combined
What I don't know, is why you think the thoughts that you so carefully devise
Why do drugs seem to tear apart what's left of the amazing people I find
I wish I'd known you before, so I could be there to tell you not to, let's
Spin it back, rewind
This wasn't originally, your kind of life
Wasn't the way you were raised, or how your brain was designed
Really, you feel you've left the old you behind
Can't even feel anymore, you're practically paralyzed
I can see the real you, underneath
Because the real you, reminds me a lot of...me.
