Unpredictable Measures Poem by Katheryn Foley

Unpredictable Measures

You destroyed the things that meant the most,
Afraid that they would bring joy to your heart,
The heart that's been hurting for far too long,
you burnt a bridge that was so delicate to begin with,
Ashamed by the actions you made,
Refusing the love that still remains,
The hurt takes you away numbing sensations do tame,
Delusional that you are healed because you can't feel,
Anything that means anything at all.

In one long sweep
You lost everything you were meant to keep,
No love shown only love tossed,
But the others bond grew stronger with your loss
barricaded in a barren land
Your feelings were lost in a grain of sand
