Until You Box Poem by Randy McClave

Until You Box

One question that's hard to answer in a quiz
Many never realize how long a minute truly is,
How long it takes for 60 seconds to tic on a clock
And how many times you punch and/ or block.
How slow those minutes are in the past
How many times those seconds are not fast,
And sometimes a minute it seemingly lasts forever
Especially on a hard sought desire and endeavor.
You dance and you move and you retreat in a minute
Sometimes you feel as you are in senate,
Then within that time you will either win or lose
And that decision someone else will choose.
Minutes sometimes seems like a lifetime
When into the ring you climb,
No one knows how long a minute lasts on the clocks
Until they first box.
